Stanford Email System

The Stanford Alumni Association had been sending emails from all of its various departments with no consistent UI or systems thinking. This disjointed communication was not only creating confusion—but also the various templates created problems for the engineers, who had to frequently switch from one template to the next.

I began my work with a listening tour to understand the communication needs across the organization. I did competitive research and designed several prototypes and iterated on various templates with key stakeholders, ensuring there was a solution for every need.

This work resulted in a custom modular email system that is user-focused, engaging, flexible, and beautifully consistent. I also designed the system to be self-serve: I provided every department with a module menu, so they could easily determine which type of module compilation would suit their communication needs to make the production process seamless.
